2023 The Stage Circuit: The Show Recap

The Stage Circuit had another great weekend as “The Show” consisted of over 160 strong suited teams who competed against one another in this past weekends Orange County youth basketball tournament. There was a consistent feel of competitiveness between players and teams all weekend long in both cities of Anaheim and Ladera Ranch that was unmatched and unlike any other event. As Southern California’s premier basketball tournament, the results and statistics that resulted from this event prove how strong our local OC teams are and how devoted to the game of basketball they are.

Some highlights included:

Compton Magic 

Compton Magic 17U Elite went undefeated this weekend winning by an average of 20.25 Points per game. They were led by both 5 Star recruit and #3 Nationally ranked Koa Peat and Eric Freeny who has recently picked up an offer from UCLA and had a great spring recruiting season. Both players were on a tear as they both averaged 16 points on the weekend at “The Show”. Koa Peat earned MVP honors and Freeny was right beside him as he earned All-Tournament honors. 

OGP 16U Adidas Gold back at it

Open Gym Premier 16U Adidas Gold was back to continue their hot streak at The Stage Circuit. They came out to a hot start on the weekend as they defeated a tough Compton Magic Elite team. They were led by none other than MVP Brandon Benjamin. Benjamin put on nothing but impressive performances all weekend as he went on to average a double double that consisted of 22 Points per game and 13 Rebounds per game. 

AZ Storm 15U and Compton Magic Elite go undefeated

In the 15U division AZ Storm and Compton Magic Elite both went undefeated on the weekend at “The Show”. AZ Storm was led by MVP Sergio Gonzales as he was the leading scorer in every game. Gonzales finished the weekend by averaging 16 Points per game, 4 Rebounds per game, and 3 Steals per game. For Compton Magic Elite they dominated “The Show” as they won by an average of 20.5 points per game. Rider Portela earned MVP honors for the squad as he averaged 11 Points per game and 4 Rebounds per game. 

Jr SSB We the Ones shock #1 Port City

Some crazy news in the 13U Jr. SSB division as “We Them Ones” defeated #1 G365 Ranked “Port City” with a final score of 50-33. MVP Jordan Fisher was a man on a mission as he led the way for “We the Ones” and dropped an impressive 25 points and 14 rebounds against the #1 team. He finished the weekend by having a double double 3 out of the 5 games on the weekend and averaging 15.4 Points per game and 10.8 Points per game.  

Other 3SSB Division Winners and MVP’s

Daniel Crisan led Open Gym Premier Anaheim to an undefeated weekend in the 11U division as he averaged 9.75 Points per game and 1.75 Points per game in a total of 4 games. The 12U Division was dominated by Open Gym Premier 12U and MVP Max Camacho. Camacho had impressive numbers all weekend long as he averaged 19 Points per game and 5 Rebounds per game. 14U MVP Jonathan Rossiter was on an absolute tear this weekend as he led his Port City team to a 5-0 record at “The Show”. Rossiter finished with exceptional numbers that consisted of 23.8 Points per game and 3.2 Rebounds per game. 

The Stage Circuit Final Act will commence July 6-9 in both Anaheim and Ladera Ranch Open Gym Premier locations.  Expect another big weekend of competitive high level basketball between the High School divisions and Youth divisions and stay tuned for all content from the next Southern California basketball tournament.
